Florida State's offense has put up a ton of points so far this year, but I am not convinced that they are a top notch offense. I think that odds makers have overestimated their potential. I like the Demon Deacons in a surprisingly close ball game. Take Wake Forest +27.5.

Here's the scoop on the Scarlet Knights -- Rutgers has some questions on the offensive line and South Florida is towards the top in sacks. BJ Daniels has struggled with interceptions in the past. Coach Schiano is gone now and when he left he took a number of his coaches with him. It should take Rutgers some time to get their offense clicking. Personally we feel that half point is bait for Rutgers. As long as South Florida has an answer for Rutgers' ground attack, the Bulls should run away with this game.

Our TOP PLAY tonight is $10 tonight -- we feel very strongly we have a winner selected in the Bears/Packers battle at Lambeau.

We won with the Chargers last night and we hope you did as well. In the e-mail we sent out last night we mentioned San Diego's improvements on defense and the addition of Robert Meachem as factors for going with the Bolts and we were spot on.

We certainly don't mind all the help we got from Oakland's back-up long snapper, but a win is a win and Phillip Rivers looked strong as San Diego won by 8.

MNF Free Pick

Monday Night Football kicks off tonight as Phillip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers head to Oakland to take on their AFC Division rival Oakland Raiders.

 

After close examination of these west coast foes in the preseason it's clear the Chargers have ironed out some of their problems on defense. Rookie LB Marvin Ingram appears to be a solid pass rusher and the addition of Robert Meachem at receiver makes Rivers and the Bolts offense more of a threat through the air. If there is one area of concern for San Diego it would be at the running back position, where Ryan Mathews is now sidelined (broken collarbone) and replacement options Jackie Battle, Ronnie Brown and rookie Edwin Baker all carry some uncertainty.

 

Oakland begins 2012 with its usual host of questions:  a new coach in Dennis Allen, a new offensive coordinator in Greg Knapp, new schemes and a few new faces. Knapp has brought in a more traditional “West Coast” scheme, so it will be interesting to see how it translates to Palmer at QB and especially McFadden out of the backfield. But all the offense in the world won’t help unless the Raiders defense improves from their 27th overall ranking last season.

We don't see solid defense being overly prevalent in this game, so you might consider a small play on the over. San Diego should prevail in a 31-28 or a 35-31 type of shootout. We'll be taking San Diego minus the point.

Thursday Night Recap

We hit our posted 3 Star FREE pick (Duke -4.5) early in the evening, but it was pretty lackluster going forward.

Our lowest ranked pick (Chicago -3.5) won their game, but failed to cover by 1 point (if only Derek Rose could make his free throws down the stretch.) The Hornets/Spurs contest was on pace to eclipse the 183.5 total, but the Spurs blew it open in the 4th and the pace stalled as San Antonio played keep away. Portland/Sacramento went under as expected, but the lowly Kings pulled a rabbit out of the hat in the 4th and pulled off the upset.

Monday Night Recap

We hit our 4 star play tonight as the Wolves (+6.5) won the game outright and our 4 star picks now stand at 14-5-1 for the year.

Tonight we sent many of our previous customers an e-mail with a game we strongly advised they play (Charleston at Samford UNDER 134), the game total came in at only 120.

We are going to slow down a bit with the rah-rahs, the incredibles and the unbelievables as hopefully by now the games we've been picking are starting to do the talking.

With any new venture it's necessary to promote and try and spice things up in the beginning, but we pride ourselves on not being the guys who make 500 star picks or locks of the decade, etc. We believe in our approach and our methods and we believe that by years end we will have made a solid profit. Nobody in this game picks 70% winners. It just doesn't happen.

Give us a chance and see if we don't build your bankroll after a larger sample size than just one night or even one week.

Portland Trail Blazers +1.5 -- The Jazz are notoriously tough at home, but Jefferson is still a little banged up and the Blazers should have the rebounding advantage with Marcus Camby pulling down boards at a very impressive rate. The Blazers have the 3-point shooting, the late game clutch shooting with Jamal Crawford and terrific play from Wallace and Aldridge should result in an outright win from Portland tonight.

Well... What an interesting game...

Our 4 star play today was the Bulls vs. Heat UNDER 189.5. By the time the game started the line had moved to 192. The total at the end of the game 190 as the Heat won 97 to 93. Unfortunately for us, Miami went to the line, with the game already in hand, for two free throws with only one-tenth of a second remaining and somehow managed to hit both, despite making one of two the last several times they went to the charity stripe.

Frustrating stuff.

Hopefully if any of you made that play, you were able to get the line closer to the 192 total it climbed to before tip-off.
